Iraq signs $480m contract with GE for power plants
Iraq has signed a contract with GE worth $480m to build three power plants and is negotiating with Hyundai to buy diesel generators, the country's electricity minister said.

NorthWestern sets value for coal-fired plant
NorthWestern Corp. said it may sell to Bicent Power Co. LLC its 30 percent ownership interest in Colstrip Unit 4, a 740-MW coal-fired plant in Montana, for $404 million.

Duke Energy to build two gas-fired plants
The North Carolina Utilities Commission said it approved Duke Energy Carolinas' request to build two 620 MW combined cycle, natural gas-fired units.

Vestas to build research center in Houston
Vestas said it chose Houston, Texas as the location for its new wind power research center.

Vestas receives 500 MW wind order
Vestas said it received an order from Alliant Energy Corp. for 303 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 500 MW. The turbines will be delivered to wind power projects in the states of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

SCE, eSolar ink 245 MW solar deal
eSolar said it signed a power purchase agreement with Southern California Edison to build a total of 245 MW of concentrating solar plants in Southern California.

URS to provide SO3 control for coal-fired plant
URS Corp. won a contract worth approximately $6.7 million to engineer and provide its SBS Injection technology for a Midwestern electric coal-fired utility.

GE wins $500 million Saudi power contracts
GE Energy has announced $500m in contracts to supply gas turbines and generators to various power plants owned by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

Shaw wins EPC for SCEG nuclear plants
The Shaw Group Inc. said that Westinghouse Electric Co. won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for two AP1000 nuclear power units by South Carolina Electric & Gas Co.

Dynegy sells gas-fired plant
Dynegy Inc. said that it will sell the 815 MW Rolling Hills Power Generation Facility to a unit of Tenaska Capital Management LLC for $368 million in cash.
