BHEL of India secures second 600 MW EPC contract
Indian power engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a repeat EPC contract for a 600 MW thermal power generating unit in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

SunPower to construct two solar PV projects
SunPower Corp. said that it was selected by Florida Power & Light Co. to build a 25 MW power plant in DeSoto County, Fla. and a 10 MW project at the Kennedy Space Center.

Power Machines' hydro contract in Iraq reinstated
Iraq's Ministry of Energy has given the green light to finance the long-awaited Al Adaim hydroelectric power project in northern Iraq. In 2001, OJSC "Power machines" of Russia won the contract to supply all equipment, but due to the subsequent hostilities the contract was suspended.

MHI and E.ON Energie to verify CO2 recovery technology for coal plants
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and E.ON Energie will jointly test technology for recovering carbon dioxide (CO2) from flue-gas emissions from a coal-fired power generation plant in Germany.

Fluor and E.ON join on CO2 capture plant
Fluor Corp. and E. ON Energie AG said that the two companies are developing a retrofitted pilot plant designed to capture and separate CO2 from flue gas at E.ON's coal-fired power plant in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

EDF launches 300 000 smart meters pilot project
ERDF, a subsidiary of EDF and the largest electricity distribution network in the European Union, has launched a major transformation program that will see the replacement of 35 million electricity meters in France, beginning with a pilot trial of 300 000 meters.
