Alstom partner expands facilities
Alstom said its business unit Power Systems Manufacturing is expanding its operations in Jupiter, Fla.

Mesa Power buys 1,000 MW of wind turbines
Mesa Power LLP ordered 667 wind turbines totaling 1,000 MW from General Electric in a deal worth around $2 billion in the first phase of the four-phase Pampa Wind Project, which is expected to generate more than 4,000 MW at its completion in 2014.

ABB wins contract from Svenska Kraftnat and Fingrid
ABB, the power and automation technology group, has won a contract worth $170 million to supply two high-voltage, direct current converter stations for the Fenno-Skan 2 power link from Svenska Kraftnat and Fingrid.

Trianel gets all clear to build 750 MW German coal plant
Dutch-German energy group Trianel has been given the go-ahead to build a €1bn ($1.5bn) 750 MW hard-coal fired power station in western Germany.

SRP to buy output from 575 MW natural gas plant
TransCanada Corp. said that Arizona-based utility Salt River Project agreed to buy 100 percent of the output from a 575 MW, $500 million ($870/kW) natural gas-fired power plant it plans to build near Phoenix.

Tenaska and Warburg Pincus sell 1,850 MW portfolio
Tenaska Capital Management LLC said that a unit of the Tenaska Power Fund L.P. and a partner of Warburg Pincus have agreed to sell three facilities with a generating capacity totaling 1,554 MW. In addition, Tenaska Capital said that TPF had agreed to sell the Calumet Energy Power Station, a 303 MW power plant in Chicago.

Duke Energy to build 620 MW gas-fired plant
Duke Energy Carolinas said it will build a 620 MW gas-fired power plant costing $275 million, or roughly $444/kW.

Qatar signs multi-billion deals to build power plant
Qatar has signed a series of deals to build a $3.8bn desalination and power plant part-owned by Japanese and French firms, a statement said.

China to build Qinghai-Tibet electricity transmission line
China is preparing for the building of a project to transmit thermal power resources from the country's northwest to Tibet in the southwest to boost local economy.

Wartsila bags Brazilian power plant deal
Finnish power solutions supplier Wartsila said on Friday that it has received an order for a turnkey power plant, valued at €80m ($124m), to be delivered to Brazil.
