Suez to sell 635 MW of power generating capacity to Belgium's SPE
French energy group Suez has agreed to sell 635 MW of electricity generating capacity owned by its Belgian subsidiary Electrabel to Belgian utility SPE, the Belgian prime minister's office told Agence-France Presse.

GE unit to invest $5bn outside US by 2010
GE Energy Financial Services has announced today plans to invest US $5bn - nearly a quarter of its total plan - outside the US to grow and help meet soaring energy demand by the end of 2010.

An agreement on cooperation regarding wave power development was signed yesterday between Sweden's Vattenfall and Wavebob of Ireland.

Electrabel to order 500 MW of wind turbines

Human error flagged for Florida power outage

AEP sells four inactive natural gas and oil plant sites
American Electric Power has sold four inactive generating plants owned by its AEP Texas North Generation Company LLC subsidiary to Eagle Construction and Environmental Services, LP. The plants, which have not operated since 2004 or earlier, had a total generating capacity of 656 MW and had produced electricity from natural gas or oil.

Suez and Gaz De France jointly acquire Europe's largest CCGT plant
Gaz de France and SUEZ have together acquired an 1875 MW CCGT power plant located in Teesside, northeast England, Europe's largest such plant.
