Enel has announced a series of energy projects in Saudi Arabia after signing a Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).

RWE to join AEP and Alstom in validation of carbon capture technology
American Electric Power (AEP), RWE and Alstom will collaborate during a planned validation of commercial-scale application of carbon capture and storage technology on an existing AEP coal-fired power plant.

Siemens to supply 86 wind turbines to Canada
Siemens Power Generation will supply 86 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each for the Wolfe Island Wind project, near Kingston in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Purchaser is a unit of Canadian Hydro Developers Inc. The 200 MW wind farm is scheduled to be operational in fall 2008.

AEP's Cook Unit 2 completes $70 million upgrade
American Electric Power's Cook 1,107 MW nuclear plant Unit 2 completed a refueling outage that included replacing the reactor vessel head and other major component and system improvements. Total project costs of the upgrades were more than $70 million.

Russia and China seal power agreements
Russia has signed deals to help China develop another uranium enrichment facility and to build two more nuclear reactors for a power station on China's eastern coast, nuclear officials said.

Brussels approves Bulgaria nuke plant plan
The European Commission (EC) has approved Bulgaria's plan to build a second nuclear power plant at Belene on the Danube River using Russian-made reactors.

Asia power project to link four countries
Four countries are expected to give the green light this month to a project that would lead to the first significant electricity transfer from central Asia and help resolve seasonal power shortages in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

California to consider 900 MW of natural gas and solar capacity
The California Energy Commission accepted applications to build both a 558-MW natural gas powered plant and a 400-MW thermal solar power plant.
