Alstom strikes deal to make conventional islands of Russian nuclear plants
Alstom signed a framework agreement with Russia's Atomenergomash in Moscow, outlining a joint venture dedicated to manufacturing the conventional islands of Russian nuclear power plants.

Scottish & Southern Energy plans 2.5 MW hydroelectric plant
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has applied to Scottish ministers for consent to build a 2.5 MW hydroelectric power station on the Allt Coire Chaorach river, near Crianlarich, Scotland.

Siemens has been awarded a turnkey contract to build a 870 MW combined cycle power plant in the Netherlands.

Largest wind farm in North Dakota announced
Power Cooperative Inc. and Otter Tail Power Co. today have agreed with FPL Energy to develop the Langdon Wind Project. This multipart wind project includes 25-year agreements with Minnkota to purchase 99 MW and with Otter Tail Power to purchase 19.5 MW of wind-generated electricity.

We Energies buys Vestas wind turbines for 145 MW project
We Energies has purchased 88 wind turbines from Vestas Wind Systems for construction of the Blue Sky Green Field wind project in Fond du Lac County, Wis.

E.ON UK to construct 1275 MW combined heat and power station
E.ON UK, the company that runs Powergen, has announced it has signed a deal with National Grid's Grain LNG terminal that will make its £500m ($982m) 1275MW new power station into one of the world's largest combined heat and power (CHP) plants.

Enel plans solar power plant
Italian utility Enel is working to implement a plan to build the world's first solar power plant on the east coast of Sicily.

DTE Energy Services to test clean coal technology
MagMill LLC and DTE Energy Services (the non-regulated arm of DTE Energy) will install a 2 to 3 ton-per-hour MagMill retrofit for coal testing at the DTEES pulverizing facility in Vicksburg, MS.

Proposed $1 bn LNG port project receives license
SUEZ Energy North America's subsidiary, Neptune LNG LLC, said that its proposed $1 billion Neptune offshore LNG facility in Massachusetts has received its Deepwater Port License. The Neptune project would provide between 400 and 750 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
