Alstom bags 490 MW CCGT plant deal with Brazilian steel maker
Alstom has received a €330m turnkey contract from Brazilian steel producer ThyssenKrupp CSA Companhia Siderúrgica to build a 490 MW combined-cycle power plant.

Madison G&E wins wind farm OK
Madison Gas and Electric received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to build and own a 30 MW, $56 million wind farm complex near Mason City, Iowa.

Scottish Power-Iberdrola has revealed detailed plans to convert its Longannet power station in Fife, Scotland to clean coal technologies by way of a £1.5bn ($2.9bn) switch to supercritical boilers.

Fortum assesses environmental impact for Loviisa nuclear plant
Finnish energy provider Fortum has launched an environmental impact assessment (EIA) process to evaluate the possibility of building a new 1000 MW to 1800 MW nuclear power plant at the company's Loviisa nuclear power site at Hastholmen, Sweden.
