ScottishPower wave farm project gets go-ahead
ScottishPower has been granted planning permission by Scottish ministers to build what will be the world's largest wind farm off the coast of Orkney.

Gaz de France has signed a deal with European power group Vattenfall for a pilot carbon dioxide storage project in Germany, the French gas company said in a statement.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received an order from Sanmen Nuclear Power Company in China for two packages of a steam turbine generator (STG) for the Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant to be built in Zhejiang Province.

TVA to seek nuclear plant license
Tennessee Valley Authority will seek an NRC license to build a new nuclear power plant. The TVA board voted to seek a license to build a two-reactor plant at TVA's Bellefonte site on the Tennessee River in northeast Alabama.

Calpine Corporation will construct a 600-MW Energy Center in Hayward, Calif.

Yemen signs deal to build $15bn nuclear power plant
A delegation of American and Canadian investors in the field of nuclear energy left Yemen on Tuesday after signing an initial agreement with the Yemeni government to fund a nuclear power plant at an estimated cost $15bn, according to local reports.

Siemens to build France's largest combined cycle power plant
Siemens Power Generation (PG) is to construct a 2x430 MW power plant in Saint Avold in the Lorraine region for Endesa France, which when constructed will be France's largest combined cycle plant.

Babcock Power Environmental Inc. announced that it has recently been awarded a contract for the design and supply of two Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization Systems from Basin Electric Power Cooperative.

Alstom to commence CO2 reduction demonstration project in Australia
Alstom has contracted with International Power (Technologies) Pty Limited for the design, engineering and implementation of a demonstration plant at their Hazelwood Power Station, which will showcase technologies which are able to dramatically reduce the plant's CO2 intensity.
