TXU could close power plants in state spat
The Associated Press reported that TXU Corp. says it could be forced to shut down some power plants if it can't settle charges by state regulators that it manipulated the state's wholesale electric market.

Tri-State delays Kansas coal plant
Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. said it now plans to delay construction of one of its two proposed coal-fired units in Kansas and will pursue additional natural gas-fired and renewable energy resources.

CMS Energy in agreement to sell Venezuelan assets
CMS Energy and Petroloeos de Venezuela, S.A. signed a purchase and sale agreement for the sale of the company's interest in Sistema Electrico de Nueva Esparta, C.A. (SENECA), including its 88 percent equity ownership, certain associated generating equipment and other assets for $105.5 million.

Entergy Louisiana to repower Little Gypsy unit
Entergy Louisiana, LLC, a unit of Entergy Corp., said it plans to repower a 530 MW generating unit at its Little Gypsy site in Montz, LA. The estimated $1.02 billion unit will utilize circulating fluidized bed technology developed under the Department of Energy's Clean Coal Technology program and use petroleum coke as its primary fuel.

Southern wins DOE approval for Florida coal plant
Southern Co. has won approval to build a coal-fired power plant in Florida that will use coal gasification technology to reduce emissions levels, the Energy Department said.

E.ON said it would acquire Enel's Spanish unit Viesgo and receive additional Spanish generation capacity from Endesa after agreeing to withdraw its takeover bid for the Spanish utility.
