Entergy wins 2007 Climate Protection Award
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has named Entergy among the winners of the 2007 Climate Protection Award for efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Entergy was the only utility company among 17 Climate Protection Award winners.

UK renewables association calls for delay to Energy White Paper
4 May 2007 - The UK's Renewable Energy Association (REA) has asked the government to delay publication of an energy White Paper, expected this month, that would set the framework for the country's energy policy goals.

Gaz de France announces new organizational structure
French utility Gaz de France has revealed that the company is going to create a new organizational structure for its activities to enhance efficiency in preparation for its proposed merger with fellow French utility Suez.

South Texas nuke adds 50 MW after outage
South Texas Project nuclear power plant's Unit 2 reactor resumed full-power operation following a refueling and maintenance outage that saw the plant boost its capacity by 50 MW.

British Energy to restart in May Hunterston B and Hinkley Point B reactors
British Energy expects the Hunterston B nuclear reactors and the two Hinkley Point B nuclear reactors, which were shut in late 2006 as a result of boiler tube safety fears, to restart later this month.

Putin orders Russian government to establish nuclear energy company by 1 July
Russian premier Vladimir Putin has ordered the government to set up a nuclear energy corporation, AtomEnergoProm, by 1 July, 2007 and transfer the stock of the industry's enterprises to its charter capital by presidential decree.

Japanese and Kazakh ministers sign nuclear power agreement
A nuclear energy cooperation agreement has been signed between the relevant Japanese and Kazakh authorities that will see Japan import 30 per cent of uranium for its power plants from Kazakhstan.

CEZ and RAO UES to reform Russian electricity sector
Czech electricity producer CEZ has signed a memorandum of understanding with Russia's state-owned utility RAO UES that will see the two companies, along with RAO UES subsidiary Territorial Generation Company-4 (TGC-4), cooperate in reforming the Russian electricity sector.

TransCanada considers Alberta nuclear source
TransCanada Corp. said that building a nuclear power plant in Western Canada could be an option in the future, according to published reports.
