Areva plans USA nuclear enrichment plant
Areva, the French nuclear engineering company, has filed proposals to build a $2bn uranium enrichment plant in the United States, according to Les Echos, the French sister paper of the Financial Times.

EDF to increase stake in Austrian state supplier
The local government of the Austrian state of Styria looks set to sell a further 24 per cent stake in state supplier Energie Steiermark (Estag) to Electricite de France (EDF), the state government said yesterday. This follows a firm offer from the French power giant at the end of last week.

Alstom finalizes strategic Russian nuclear partnership
Following a framework agreement signed in April, Alstom and JSC Atomenergomash, which is part of Rosatom, have signed the constituent documents of a joint venture dedicated to manufacturing the conventional islands of Russian nuclear power plants.

Plant Vogtle to seek license renewal
Southern Nuclear Operating Company announced its plan to ask the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)--on behalf of the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant co-owners--to renew the plant's operating license for an additional 20 years.
