Edison plans €3bn power investments
Italian power utility Edison has announced plans to invest some €3bn ($4.38bn) in the elctric power sector over the next five years including around €1bn in renewable energy assets as it aims "to grow in markets outside Italy and in the area of renewable energy source."

Siemens and Elektrozavod extend high voltage cooperation
Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution division has set up a second joint venture with Elektrozavod, one of the leading Russian electrical engineering companies. Siemens holds a 51 per cent share in the new jointly owned company "Siemens High Voltage Products GmbH."

IPO of Danish DONG may go ahead in first half of 2008: ministry
The Danish finance ministry is aiming to launch the planned initial public offering (IPO) of state-controlled utility DONG in the first half of 2008 after the process was delayed earlier this year due a general election, a ministry spokesman said Monday.

Electricity monopoly Unified Energy System (UES) of Russia has finalized a deal to sell a blocking stake of 25 per cent plus one share in Power Machines to Highstat Ltd.

GE Energy to invest $50 mn in supply chain upgrades
GE Energy expects to invest roughly $50 million to increase supply chain and engineering capacity and will more than double its global capabilities to meet steam turbine demand around the world, company officials said. Output will be expanded in GE's steam turbine production and engineering centers in North America, Europe and Asia.
