Allegheny Energy to form joint venture
Electric utility Allegheny Energy Inc. said it agreed to form a joint venture with American Electric Power to build and own new electric transmission assets within grid-operator PJM Interconnection.

Mirant to sell Caribbean business
Mirant Corporation said it has entered into a definitive purchase and sale agreement with a unit of Marubeni Corporation for the sale of its Caribbean business for $1.082 billion, which includes related debt of approximately $350 million, power purchase obligations of approximately $153 million and estimated working capital at closing.

TXU moves ahead with merger as shop process ends

Acciona plans renewables venture with Endesa
Acciona intends to set up a new renewable energy company with Endesa, Spain's leading power producer, if Acciona and Italy's Enel succeed in their bid to take control of Endesa, Acciona said in a statement.

Suzlon Energy raises bid for REpower
India's Suzlon Energy has raised its bid to buy REpower Systems AG in a deal that values the German wind energy business at €1.2bn ($1.6 bn), topping a rival offer from France's Areva SA.
