ABB wins $33m power equipment order in China
ABB announced Thursday it has won a $33m contract with Tianjin Power Co. for power equipment to help satisfy increasing demand for reliable power in China's third-largest city.

Government approve waste to energy plant for London
A controversial new energy from waste development in Greater London was given the go-ahead by the UK Government today. This decision will allow Riverside Resource Recovery to proceed with an energy from waste power station with a capacity of 72 MW in South East London.

First Braes of Doune turbines erected
The first of 36 wind turbines at the Braes of Doune wind farm in Stirlingshire, Scotland have been erected. Irish renewable energy company Airtricity is developing the 72 MW wind farm.

Tacoma Power has selected GE Energy to upgrade the two hydro generating units at the utility's Mossyrock hydropower station on the Cowlitz River in Lewis County, Washington.

Minnesota Power announced that Burns & McDonnell has been selected to provide engineering and project management services for a major emission control upgrade at its Boswell Unit 3.

Mott MacDonald appointed to oversee Sudan's Khartoum North Phase III power station
Mott MacDonald has been appointed as owner's engineer by the National Electricity Corporation (NEC) of Sudan for the development of Khartoum North Phase III, a 2 x 100 MW extension to the existing power station facilities.

Bechtel Power Corporation has awarded Foster Wheeler's North American subsidiary for the design and supply of two circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boilers.
