PSO announces plans for new baseload generation
AEP's Public Service Company of Oklahoma subsidiary announced plans to enter into a joint venture agreement with Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company to build a new 950 MW coal-fueled electricity generating unit.

SNC Lavalin wins EPC contract for new 1227 MW Algerian gas fired plant
SNC-Lavalin announced Monday that it has signed two contracts with Shariket Kahraba Hadjret En Nouss S.p.A. (S.K.H. S.p.A.) for a total value of CAN$1.3bn ($1.15bn) to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC contract), as well as operations and maintenance services (O & M contract), for a 1227 MW gas fired power plant in the province of Tipaza, Algeria.

Russians seek investor for 120 MW CFP plant project
RAO UES of Russia and the South Generation Company - TGC-8 have jointly initiated an investor selection procedure for building new generating capacity at the Experimental Thermal Power Plant (TPP).

Pepco Energy wins 400 MW power supply government contract

Siemens awarded control system for the world's largest lignite fired power plant
Siemens Power Generation is to equip both blocks of the new lignite fired power plant in Grevenbroich-Neurath (North Rhine-Westphalia) with an innovative control system for RWE Power. Siemens will also deliver the transformers for the plant and the drive turbines for the feed water pumps. The total order volume exceeds €90m ($113m).

ABB to equip Dutch windfarm
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, said today it has won contracts worth a total of $33m to provide power equipment and cable connections for the Dutch offshore wind farm, Q7.

Allegheny Energy to install scrubbers at Hatfield's Ferry Power Station
Allegheny Energy, Inc. announced plans to install flue gas desulfurization equipment at its coal-fired Hatfield's Ferry Power Station, which is located near Masontown, Pa.

Alstom has recently been awarded two contracts worth around €50m ($63.5m) to supply equipment for two hydropower stations in China.

Tenaska buys 50 percent interest in Illinois IGCC project
Tenaska, Inc. has entered into an agreement to purchase a 50 percent development-stage interest in the proposed Taylorville Energy Center, a 630-MW IGCC plant to be located near Taylorville, in Christian County, Illinois, US.
