Futtsu project in Japan installs GE 9H gas turbines
The first of three GE Frame 9H gas turbines is being installed at Tokyo Electric Power Company's Futtsu Thermal Power Station Group 4 and marks the first Asian application of this GE technology.

Intrinergy to generate biogas in Belgium
US-based Intrinergy completed the acquisition of its joint-venture partner's interest in Valorbois, a permitted renewable energy project in Belgium that will gasify wood to produce electricity.

CMS Enterprises to co-develop power plant, mines with Peabody Energy
CMS Enterprises has signed agreements with Peabody Energy to co-develop the Prairie State Energy Campus, a 1,600-MW power plant and coal mine in southern Illinois.

E.ON UK applies to build new £1bn coal-fired plant in Kent
E.ON UK has submitted a scoping statement to statutory consultees over its plans to build two new 800 MW supercritical units at its Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent.

GE Energy to supply steam turbines for South Korean nuclear project
South Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will manufacture and install two 1,455-MW, N2R steam turbines for two new reactors at the Shin Kori Nuclear Power Plant in Kori, southeastern Korea.

Invensys to supply controls at Energy Northwest nuclear plant
Invensys Process Systems will supply Energy Northwest with Triconex digital control systems at the Columbia Nuclear Generating Station, near Richland, Washington, US.

Alstom wins South African power plant upgrade and retrofit
Alstom has won a contract worth 110 million euros to refurbish the 2,100 MW Arnot coal-fired power plant in South Africa, and increase its power output by 300 MW to 2,400 MW.

Heat recovery projects to be celebrated in Dakotas
Dedication ceremonies will be held later this month for four new power plants that are fueled by hot exhaust and generate about 22 MW in North and South Dakota.

40 MWe Wärtsilä power plant planned for Madagascar
Wärtsilä Corp. was awarded a turnkey contract for the supply of a 40 MWe power plant in Madagascar in September that should be online in August 2007.

MGE plans wind power station
Wisconsin-based Madison Gas and Electric Co. said it will buy 18 wind turbines and other equipment for $46 million for a new wind-powered electric power plant to be constructed in Iowa.
