Russia to increase nuclear power use
Russia plans to generate a quarter of its electricity from nuclear power within 20 years, from 16 percent now, and export 30 percent of its oil to Asia, from 3 percent now.

AREVA expresses interest in new US nuclear projects
AREVA and BWX Technologies, Inc., have jointly submitted applications to the U.S. Department of Energy for technology that recycles used nuclear fuel and a new type of nuclear reactor.

Pakistani hydro project secures funding
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development will loan about $37 million to fund Pakistan's Golan Gol Hydropower project, which will generate 106 MW of electricity.

Alberta clean coal project advances

Power plants and other large facilities in the East cut ozone-forming emissions 11 percent between 2004 and 2005 under a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency cap and trade program.

Indonesia plans to build nuclear power plant in 2010
The Indonesian government will begin the construction of a nuclear power plant in 2010 or 2011 as part of the country's energy diversification program, a senior official said.
