Saudi IWPP awards turnkey contract
An international Siemens-led consortium has been awarded a €1.8bn ($2.1bn) contract for turnkey production of a steam power plant with an associated desalination facility. The customer for this contract, which will be the largest independent water and power project (IWPP) worldwide, is Shuaibah Water and Electricity Company (SWEC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Alstom wins turbine order for Shell CCGT in Nigeria
Alstom has won contracts worth over €200m ($237m) for the supply of equipment and services for the Afam VI combined cycle power plant project at Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

OG&E plans new wind farm
Oklahoma's OG&E Electric Services announced Wednesday that it has entered into a non-binding letter of intent to purchase a 120 MW wind farm planned for construction in northwestern Oklahoma.

Nexans wins €18M submarine cable contract in Thailand
French cable maker Nexans said Wednesday it has signed an €18m ($21m) contract with Thailand's Provincial Electricity Authority to supply a submarine high voltage link between Khanom, on the mainland, and Ko Samui Island, the country's third-largest island, in the Gulf of Siam.

Goldwind to supply turbines for two new farms in China
China's largest wind turbine manufacturer has signed an agreement to supply the state owned China Power Investment Corporation with wind turbines worth yuan3bn ($371.5m).

Tidal energy project gets go-ahead
Marine Current Turbines has been granted consent to install a 1 MW SeaGen tidal energy turbine in Northern Ireland's Strangford Lough. The company has successfully operated a smaller turbine off the north coast of Devon for the past two and a half years.

Foster Wheeler to supply boiler for Illinois coal plant
Foster Wheeler's US subsidiary has won a $40m a contract to design and supply a new 200 MW pulverized-coal-fired steam generator for a new power plant to be built at City Water, Light & Power's Dallman Generating Station in Springfield, Illinois, USA.
