Ontario catches more wind potential
The government of Ontario, Canada has issued a Request For Proposals for renewable energy as part of its commitment to provide five per cent of Ontario's electrical capacity from green sources by 2007. The government also highlighted its intent to double this 1350 MW to ten per cent by 2010.

A UK government committee established to investigate options for the disposal of radioactive nuclear waste has concluded that all bar two options are impractical and has recommended that waste be either buried underground or stored temporarily in facilities above ground.

FirstEnergy achieve EPA emissions reductions deal
FirstEnergy Corp. announced Friday it has reached a settlement agreement with the US Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), the U.S. Department of Justice, and three states that will result in significant reductions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) from current levels at FirstEnergy's generating plants.

New farms up Canada's wind capacity by 25 per cent
Two new wind projects, supported by the Canadian government's newly improved Wind Power Production Incentive (WPPI), will increase the country's wind power capacity by 25 per cent.
