Elsam's half-year profits higher than expected
The Danish power company, Elsam, has reported that its profit for the first six months of 2005 was DKK900m ($146m) higher than predicted in its 2004 annual report.

Solar Integrated Technologies awarded first European contracts
Solar Integrated Technologies, a provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing systems, today announced that it has received orders from six German customers for projects totalling 236 kW of commercial solar roofing systems.

Drax mulls £1.9bn offer from US
Drax Power, owners of Europe's largest power station, has received a £1.9bn ($3.46bn) bid approach from Constellation Energy and Perry Capital. Higher wholesale electricity prices have resulted in a dramatic turnaround of fortunes for the 4000 MW coal fired plant, which former owners AES Corporation relinquished to creditors in 2003.

Aker Kvaerner strengthens its boiler business
Aker Kvaerner has signed a letter of intent to acquire 60 per cent of the Finnish boiler plant supplier Noviter Oy. The majority ownership will strengthen the boiler business in biofuel and small-scale segment, especially in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries.

GE invests in third windpower project
The energy investment arm of GE, Energy Financial Services, has acquired from EAB Technology Group its third windpower generation project, the 55 MW Alsleben project.

The board of Spain's Endesa last week rejected the hostile €22.5bn ($28.1bn) takeover bid by Gas Natural.

Centrax acquires Turbomeca's RR 501 genset maintenance business
Centrax Gas Turbines has recently signed an agreement with French packager, Turbomeca to take over maintenance of their Rolls Royce 501 class generator set business.
