GE and Doosan supply steam turbines for Korean expansion
GE and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd. are to supply six steam turbine generators for the expansions of coal fired power plants in Korea. When completed the projects will add more than 3000 MW of new capacity to the Korean power grid.

Siemens to supply systems equipment to Libya
Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) has signed an €180m ($220m) contract to supply five district network control centres to General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL).

GE Energy awarded contract to build hydro project on Yellow River
GE Energy has received a contract of nearly $35m to supply four turbine-generator sets for the new Xi Xia Yuan hydroelectric facility on the Yellow River in Henan Province, in the northeastern region of People's Republic of China.

US wind project support boost GE sales
GE Energy announced Monday that it has secured contracts to supply more than 750 MW of wind turbines for new 2004-2005 projects in the US, and has received commitments for another 750 MW. In total, the orders and commitments are valued at more than $1.3bn.

LogicaCMG signs £8.1m contract with EDF Energy
LogicaCMG has announced a £8.1m ($14.6m) five year contract with EDF Energy in the UK. The deal covers the delivery of IT services, consultancy and support for two critical areas of EDF Energy's business - the electricity distribution network (the UK's largest), and its back-office SAP systems.

Alstom pumped with projects in China
Alstom have signed four contracts with a combined value of €357m ($445m) to provide power generating equipment for three pumped storage projects in China.

Alstom and Dongfang to supply Chinese nuclear plant
China's Dongfang Electric Corporation is joining forces with French engineering group Alstom in the supply of nuclear power plant equipment to China.

International Power wins Ras Laffan B IWPP in Qatar
The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has awarded preferred bidder status to International Power for 40 per cent of the Ras Laffan B Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP) in Qatar.

PIC awarded third party contract
The PIC Companies O&M division has been awarded a contract to operate and maintain a 510 MW combined cycle facility in Arkansas, USA.

VA Tech Hydro lands MicroGuss contract in California
VA Tech Hydro has been awarded the contract for the retrofit of the existing Balch power station in California, USA.
