Constellation Generation power plant services contract to Sargent & Lundy
Maryland-based Constellation Generation has awarded Sargent & Lundy LLC of Chicago Illinois, a multi-year contract to provide engineering and technical services for its nationwide fleet of generating stations.

Bruce 'A' nuclear generating station returns to service after 6 years
Bruce Power recently announced that Unit 3 at the company's Bruce A generating station was now reconnected to Ontario's electricity grid, bringing Bruce Power's ambitious project to restart two long-idled reactors to a close. Unit 4, also 750 MW, was restarted on October 7, 2003.

Westinghouse and BNFL to design Swedish spent fuel plant
Westinghouse Sweden, Scandiaconsult and BNFL Environmental Services received an order from Svensk Karnbranslehantering AB (SKB), the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co., to undertake the basic design of an encapsulation plant for Swedish spent nuclear fuel.

Alstom to build 228 MW CCGT in India
Alstom has been awarded an order valued at around €110m ($136m) to build a 228 MW turnkey combined-cycle power plant for GVK Industries Ltd in India. The plant will be located near the village of Jegurupadu in the State of Andra Pradesh in Eastern India.

Vietnam's oldest hydropower plant upgraded
Electricity of Vietnam is to undertake the upgrading of the country's oldest hydroelectric power plant. The Ankroet plant started operating in 1945 and is located in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong's electricity sector.

Areva T & D secures Sonelgaz contracts
Areva's Transmission and Distribution division (T&D) has recently won two turnkey contracts with Algerian utility Sonelgaz totalling over €32m ($40m). These substantial contracts, the latest two of four awarded to T&D in Algeria in the past 18 months, are part of the country's on-going electrical network improvement program.

Alstom to supply turbine runners to Glen Canyon dam
Alstom has been awarded a contract, valued at around €20m ($25m), by the US Bureau of Reclamation for the supply and installation of 8 x 169 MW Francis turbine runners for the Glen Canyon Dam, located on the Colorado River in the State of Arizona, USA.

Grand River Dam Authority upgrades energy management technology
Oklahoma power wholesaler Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) has upgraded its electric metering system with an enterprise energy management system from Power Measurement.

Technip announces contract award for an 800 MW power plant in Italy
A consortium formed by Va Tech and Technip has been awarded by Energia Molise S.p.A. a turnkey contract, worth more than 300 million Euros (Technip's share 30%), for the implementation of an 800 MW combined cycle power plant at Termoli, Central Italy.

Marubeni agrees to re-sell Excelergy software platforms in Japanese energy market
Marubeni Corp. and Excelergy Corp. have signed a partnership agreement to jointly and exclusively market and sell Excelergy's platforms in the Japanese energy/utility market.
