The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has signed 8 ODA loan agreements totalling 125.004 bn yen (approximately $ 1.18bn) with the Government of India.

Doosan Heavy Industries, the South Korean construction and engineering firm, said Tuesday it has won an order to build piping facilities for Taiwan's nuclear plant project.

Mitsui Babcock wins stake in €54.5m Nikola Tesla regeneration project
Mitsui Babcock has been awarded a contract by elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) for Lot 2 of the Nikola Tesla A Power Plant in Serbia. The contract has been awarded as part of a €54.5m ($65.8m) major overhaul and rehabilitation of Nikola Tesla Power Plant.

GE Energy to supply 6FA gas turbine for oil refinery in Sicily
GE Energy will supply a Frame 6FA gas turbine-generator to ERG Raffinerie Mediterranee SRL, ERG Group, for installation in a power plant at ERG's oil refinery in Priolo Gargallo, near Siracusa, Sicily.

ABB wins $5m control system contract in Montana
Power and automation technology group ABB announced Thursday that its Plant Automation business unit has received a $5m contract from PPL Montana to provide control systems for the Colstrip Units 1 & 2 power plant located near Billings, Montana.

Cobb Energy selects SPL's CorDaptix billing and customer care system
SPL has announced that Cobb Energy, an affiliate of Cobb Electric Membership Cooperative, has selected SPL's CorDaptix billing and customer care system to serve more than 250 000 customers in five counties north of Atlanta, Georgia.

Alstom awarded refurbishment contract for NY St. Lawrence project
Alstom has been awarded a contract valued at around €20m ($24.3m), from the New York Power Authority, for refurbishment work at the St. Lawrence - FDR Power Project (942 MW), located on the St. Lawrence River in Massena, New York, US.

GE Jenbacher to supply gen-set to Pakistan textiles manufacturer
GE Jenbacher has been awarded a contract to supply power generation equipment to a textiles factory near Karachi, Pakistan's largest city.

GE gas turbines selected for cogeneration plant in Ireland
GE Energy will supply two gas turbine-generator sets and additional equipment for a 150 MW cogeneration plant to be built near the city of Limerick, Ireland. The gas-fired plant will provide power and process steam for a large aluminum refining facility owned by Aughinish Alumina Limited of Ireland, as well as power for the Irish grid.

Fins begin work on fifth nuclear unit
Work on the construction of Finland's fifth nuclear power plant has started. Electricity output from the Oikiluoto 3 unit will begin in 2009.
