Areva T&D wins Syrian high-voltage contract
Areva's Transmission and Distribution Division, formerly Alstom T & D, has been awarded a turnkey contract in Syria for the supply of two high-voltage substations. The contract, € totalling € 33.5m ($41.6m), is with the Public Establishment of Electricity for Generation and Transmission (PEEGT).

Oman oil company signs MOU with Dolphin Energy
The Oman Oil Company announced Tuesday the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dolphin Energy Limited, with a view to supply natural gas to the Sultanate of Oman.

Japan co proposes mini-hydro project in Davao
A Japanese firm has proposed the contruction of a mini-hydroelectic project to tap Kipaliko River in Davao. The plant will generate 9 MW for Talaingod, Kapalong, Asuncion, New Corella and Laak towns.

Foster Wheeler awarded SCR contract by AEP
Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced today that its subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Power Group, Inc., has been awarded a contract by American Electric Power to supply and install a state-of-the-art selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system at its Muskingum River Generating Station.

Vietnam JV firm building power plant
The Huong Son Joint-Stock Company in Vietnam is investing VND834.8bn ($52.8m) in the construction of a hydroelectric power plant. Located in Huong Son district, the 42 MW plant is designed to generate 193.1 GWh annually.

Reliance energy raises capacity at proposed power plant
India's Reliance Energy Ltd said it had decided to hike capacity for its proposed gas-based plant at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh by 240 MW to 3740 MW and announced plans to set up wind energy plants of 500 MW.

Korea's Doosan to build India's largest thermal power stations
Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co. said today that it has received an order to build India's largest thermal power stations.

Southern Hydro plans new hydro-electric facility in Victoria
New Zealand's Hydro energy company Southern Hydro Pty Ltd said it plans to build and operate a 12.2 MW hydro-electric facility at Dartmouth in north-eastern Victoria, Australia.

Russia and Kyrgyzstan considering construction of hydropower station
Russia and Kyrgyzstan are considering the possibility of cooperation in constructing a hydropower station on Kyrgyz territory, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov told journalists.

FuelCell Energy receives Marubeni order
FuelCell Energy, Inc.'s Asia-Pacific strategic partner, Marubeni Corporation has placed a new order for 4 MW of Direct Fuel Cell (DFC) power plants. FuelCell Energy will manufacture the units and deliver the power plants to Marubeni customers in 2005.
