Sensa monitor cables in Moscow Substation
Sensa's Power Circuit Monitoring System will be used to monitor the condition of cables being installed to connect to the new 110/20/10 kV substation at hkalovskaya substation in Moscow, part of the electricity infrastructure investment by AO Mosenergo.

Alstom secures contract to supply a steam turbine generator set in India
Alstom has been awarded an order by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Mumbai, India to supply a steam turbine generator for a Combined-Cycle Power Plant ordered by Vemagiri Power Generation Ltd in Vemagiri, India.

VA Tech Hydro has been awarded a major turnkey refurbishment contract of the Culligran power station by Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE).

Romania gets second link to the European interconnected network
Finalizing a project that ran for 25 months, Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) has handed over to the power supply company Transelectrica S.A. (with its head office in Bucharest, Romania) an air-insulated 400 kV outdoor turnkey substation.

Turbo Genset announces contract for high speed motor and drive electronics
Turbo Genset Inc. the power generation and power electronics systems company, has announced that its UK subsidiary, Turbo Genset Company (TGC) has signed an agreement to design and manufacture a high-speed motor and the associated drive electronics for SKF of Sweden.

GCC panel reviews progress of power grid project
The GCC Power Grid Authority met last week to review progress on the first phase of the project. The six-member Gulf Cooperation Council last month approved a funding plan for the GCC power grid project, which is estimated to cost $6bn.

DEWA plans expansion of power station (H)

First section of Basslink laid

GE Energy supplies equipment for new hydropower station in Turkey
GE Energy supplied a turbine-generator and additional equipment for the Birkapili Hydroelectric Power Station, located on the Dagpazari River in the Mut/Mersin area of southern Turkey. The power station was commissioned in March 2004, with all equipment delivered within 19.5 months of the contract date.

GE Energy enters Italian wind industry
Enel SpA, the largest electric utility in Italy, has signed an agreement with GE Energy to purchase 71 of GE's 1.5 MW wind turbines during 2004 and 2005. Although GE has been active in Italy's energy sector for more than 80 years, this marks the company's entry into the Italian wind power industry.
