Big future predicted for micro-CHP
Micro-CHP technologies should have an essential role in the fight for a more sustainable energy future, according to a series of fact sheets published by Cogen Europe.

Eurelectric unveils GETS4 conclusions
The union of European electricity companies, Eurelectric, has just completed the fourth in the series of Greenhouse Gas & Energy Trading Simulations (GETS). These are designed to test the potential efficacy of trading in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions allowances in helping to meet emissions-reduction targets in a cost-effective manner and to examine different scenarios and the various sensitivities that can impact such a scheme.

UK power cuts fall by seven per cent
Since early 2002 the average number of power cuts in the UK has fallen along with the duration of power cuts, according to a report published the energy regulator Ofgem.

Enel gain O&M contract in transmission sell off
Enel Viesgo is to sell its high voltage electricity transmission assets to Spain's national grid operator, Red Eléctrica for €45.6m. The deal will also see Enel Viesgo receive a fee of €1.8m for a three-year Operation and Maintenance contract for the assets being sold.

Indian dairy farm to host biogas demonstration project
Capstone Turbine has been selected to provide a biogas-to-energy demonstration project at a dairy farm in West Bengal, India. Expected to be online mid 2005, the project will be the first installation of Capstone MicroTurbine energy systems in India.

GE powering seven new Spanish wind projects
GE Energy has announced the completed installation of 198 1.5 MW wind turbines in central Spain. Also announced were plans for a further 12 to be erected at an 18 MW project in the northwest of the country.

Sohar Power secures IWPP financing
Sohar Power Company has announced the financial closing of a $549m facility with a syndicate of international and local banks for its independent power & water project (IWPP) in Oman.

Lebanon to try power privatization again
Lebanon's prime minister Omar Karami has told parliament that a though review of the country's electricity sector is to be undertaken with announcement scheduled for early December which would include a revised plan for the part-privatization of state electricity company Electricite du Liban (EDL).
