M-Proansa consortium wins Peru - Ecuador interconnection
Peruvian transmission company REP has awarded a contract to build the first stage of a $139m transmission line linking Peru and Ecuador to a consortium of Colombia's Electrica de Medellin (EM) and Peru's Proansa, according to a REP spokesperson.

ENIP (Enterprise Nationale d'industrie Petrohimique), the petrochemicals subsidiary of Sonatrach, the Algerian state energy company, has awarded Invensys an US $2 million contract to upgrade the outdated pneumatic boiler controls and burner management system at the company's large petrochemicals complex in Skikda, Algeria.

ChevronTexaco Corp.'s Port Pelican LLC has received a license to construct, own and operate an offshore liquefied natural gas receiving and regasification terminal, to be located approximately 40 miles off the Louisiana coastline in the Gulf of Mexico.

ScottishPower agrees termination of SSE power contracts
UK utility ScottishPower announced today that it has reached conditional agreement with Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) on the early termination of electricity contracts that should save ScottishPower up to £20m($33.7m) a year from April 2005.
