GE signs contract for Lanzhou Meiya power project in China
GE Power Systems has signed a contract to provide power generation equipment for the Lanzhou Meiya Cogeneration project in Lanzhou, People's Republic of China. It is one of six projects that are part of a previously announced $900m agreement for GE to supply gas turbine-based combined-cycle systems for China's Gas Turbine Power Plants Construction Project.

Mexican utility to buy Siemens turbines with Ex-Im financing
Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), Mexico's state-owned electricity company, will purchase three gas-fired turbines and related equipment from Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp.

NMC files plans for license renewal of We Energies' Point Beach Nuclear Plant
The Nuclear Management Co., which operates We Energies' Point Beach Nuclear Plant, submitted a letter notifying the NRC that it will apply to renew the operating licenses for the plant's two reactors for another 20 years.

Huaneng Power International Inc. has approval on its feasibility study report for two 1,000 MW-class ultra-supercritical coal-fired generating units for Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant.

Sempra Energy LNG Corp. and Shell propose to develop Mexican LNG receiving terminal
Shell International Gas Limited and Sempra Energy LNG Corp. plan to form a 50/50 joint venture to build, own and operate a $600 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in Baja California, Mexico.

Saudi Aramco awards International Power and Saudi Oger power contract
Saudi Aramco has awarded International Power and Saudi Oger a contract to develop, own and operate four cogeneration Plants in Saudi Arabia. The parties signed agreements with Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia and the largest oil company in the world, for four cogeneration facilities with a total capacity of 1,074MW and 4.4 million lbs/hr of steam. The plants will supply power and steam to Saudi Aramco under four 20-year Energy Conversion Agreements.

Mitsubishi wins Mexico's Tuxpan V
Mexico's state power company CFE has awarded Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and partner Kyushu Electric Power a contract to build, own and operate the 495 MW Tuxpan V thermoelectric plant.

Ten short-listed for Oman Sohar project
Oman has short-listed ten international companies for the $200m Sohar private power project. The international bidders short-listed include UK's International Power, US firm AES, Belgium's Tractebel, Japanese firm Mitsui, France's Total, and Canada's SNC Lavalin Thermal Power.

Aker Kvaerner wins recovery boiler contract in Chile
Kvaerner Power Oy has signed a contract for the supply of a large recovery boiler in Chile.
