Encorp technology powers gas supplier for nation's capital
A fast-track project with a Colorado energy technology company will overhaul a 3.6 megawatt on-site generating plant for one of the East Coast's largest natural gas suppliers.

NERSC to offer 10 teraflop/s system by early 2003
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Research Scientific Computing (NERSC) Center has signed a contract with IBM to double the size of NERSC's 3,328-processor RS/6000 SP supercomputer, creating a machine with a peak speed of 10 teraflop/s (10 trillion floating point operations per second).

Palo Verde Unit 1 crews manually tripped the reactor during a restart procedure because of high sulfate concentrations in the steam generators, Arizona Public Service (APS) reported.

Williams places Transco expansions into service
A unit of Williams announced that it has placed two expansion projects into service, increasing capacity on its Transco pipeline system by 260,000 dekatherms per day. This additional firm transportation capacity serves markets in the Northeast.

Aquila Inc. announced Thursday that it has closed an agreement with ArcLight Capital Holdings LLC that affects Aquila's exiting the Lodi Gas Storage Project in California.

Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced that its Milan-based subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Italiana, S.p.A., has been awarded a contract by Voghera Energia S.r.l., valued at approximately $113 million, for a grassroots combined-cycle cogeneration plant to be built at Voghera, near Pavia, in Italy.

ANR Pipeline extends portfolio of long-term services with its largest customer, We Energies
ANR Pipeline Co., and We Energies announced that they have extended their relationship through 2010 by signing a number of natural gas service agreements, many of which were due to expire in 2003.

Lenders provide limited funding for PG&E National Energy Group's construction projects
PG&E National Energy Group Inc. and a syndicate of lenders have reached agreement to provide limited funding for the company's subsidiary, GenHoldings I, LLC, allowing construction to continue at power plants in Arizona, Michigan and New York. PG&E National Energy Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of PG&E Corp.
