First EU Civil Protection Forum seeks to protect citizens from terrorism and natural and technological disasters
EU Environment Commissioner Margot Wallstrom recently launched the European Commission's first Civil Protection Forum in Brussels (28-29 November 2002).

Gazprom unveils North European gas pipeline
Gazprom unveiled plans to build a North European gas pipeline linking Russia and Germany, its largest Western European customer. According to Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller the project will receive priority status akin to that of the Blue Stream project scheduled to come online later this month.

Mee wins patent case against corporate giant
Mee Industries has announced the successful conclusion of a patent infringement suit brought against it by Dow Chemical Company. The Federal Court suit, tried in December of last year in Orlando, Florida, USA, was ended by a decision of the court in late September of this year. In the suit, Dow accused Mee Industries of infringement of patents dealing with the use of fogging technology for enhancement of power output of industrial gas turbines.

The head of Italy's soon-to-be-launched power exchange conceded Tuesday that a transfer of ownership into private hands by the Transmission System Operator (TSO) might be the right alternative.
