Power plant firm to hire 100 in Charlotte

18 August 2008 -- Fluor Corp. plans to hire 100 engineers for its Charlotte office in the next six months to meet an increased workload as power plant projects increase, the company said today.

The Irving, Texas-based engineering and construction firm has 73,000-square-feet of office space in the SouthPark area, where the company now employs 180.

Fluor opened its Charlotte office in 2006, citing the area's skilled workforce and quality of life. It has added 133 jobs since then and plans to keep growing, said Trey Wills, executive director of Fluor's Charlotte operations.
