Consultancy contract on Vietnam's Thai Binh II coal fired plant signed

13 August 2008 - A 12.5bn Vietnamese Dong ($0.75m) consultancy contract for a project to build the Thai Binh II coal fired power plant in the Red river delta province of Thai Binh has been completed.

The 1200 MW power plant invested by PetroVietnam Power Company is estimated to cost 21.7 trn VND ($1.2bn).

The plant, scheduled to be put into operation in 2013-2014, will supply power to the province and its neighbouring province of Nam Dinh and Hung Yen.

No other details were given.
