KEPCO named preferred bidder for Jordanian power plant

18 July 2008 - South Korea's state-run electric power company, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has confirmed it has been selected as the preferred bidder to build and operate a gas power plant worth $500m in Jordan.

KEPCO plans to complete procedures to sign a formal contract with the Jordanian government by May next year, the company said in a statement.

With a generating capacity of 373 MW, the plant will be built in Al Quatrana, which 100 km south of the Jordan capital.

KEPCO will manage commercial operations of the plant from August 2011 through to 2035.
