BHEL wins contract to setup 500MW unit at Bokaro TPS

24 June 2008 - Indian power engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals has won a INR18.4bn ($428m) turnkey contract from the Damodar Valley Corporation for setting up a 500MW generating unit at the Bokaro thermal power station in the state of Jharkhand, India.

Three units of 210 MW each, built by Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), are already in operation at Damodar Valley Corporation's (DVC) Bokaro thermal power station (TPS).

BHEL's scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries, balance of plant and electricals, besides controls and instrumentation, electrostatic precipitators and civil works.
