Enel acquires controlling stake in Electrica Muntenia Sud

9 June 2008 - Italian utility major Enel and the Romanian state-owned company Electrica have finalized the privatization process of Electrica Muntenia Sud, signing the final documents for the sale of a controlling stake of 64.4 per cent in EMS to Enel.

The completion of Electrica Muntenia Sud's (EMS) privatization process was reached after fulfilment of all conditions and activities envisaged by the privatisation agreement signed in June 2007, between Enel and Electrica.

The total value of the transaction amounts to about €820m. In April 2008, Enel acquired directly from Electrica 50 per cent of EMS's share capital for a consideration of €395m euros, and subscribed a capital increase of €425m.
