Gemma Power wins $340m contract for natural gas plant

22 May 2008 -- Gemma Power Systems signed an engineering, procurement and construction agreement (EPC) with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) for an approximately $340 million contract to design and build a natural gas-fired, combined cycle power plant in California. The facility will be a 640 MW 2X1 combined cycle plant. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2010.

Argan Inc. received of an interim notice to proceed on the project from PG&E in December 2007. Since then, Gemma Power Systems, a unit of Argan, has been designing, procuring major components and planning the construction of the facility.
