Wartsila bags Brazilian power plant deal

12 May 2008 - Finnish power solutions supplier Wartsila said on Friday that it has received an order for a turnkey power plant, valued at €80m ($124m), to be delivered to Brazil.

The customer is Maracanau Geradora de Energia SA, an independent power producer. The contract is for a 168 MW power plant to be installed at Fortaleza in north-eastern Brazil.

A full operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement is also under negotiation, Wartsila said.

This order follows two others, also for Brazil, signed in March 2008, the company added. All three plants are due to be operational by the beginning of 2010.
