7 May 2008 The St-Laurent Énergies consortium, which includes German wind turbine maker REpower Systems AG, has been awarded five wind projects by Hydro-Quebec Distribution representing a total capacity of 954 MW in the Canadian province of Québec.

The consortium is led by EDF Energies Nouvelles (a unit of the French electric utility EDF) and includes Hydromega Services Inc. and RES Canada.

The five wind farm projects with a total capacity of 954 MW will exclusively be equipped with REpower turbines of the 2 MW class (MM82 and MM92) and will have expected in-service dates between December 2011 and December 2015. These five projects represent a total investment in excess of US$2billion, or around $2,100/kW.
