28 April 2008 -- GE Energy and joint venture partner Ali A. Tamimi Co. broke ground on its Power Technology Center in Saudi Arabia.

With an investment of SAR280 million ($75 million USD), the center, spanning 125,000 square feet, is said to provide a regional hub for the energy industry and boost the current capability of the MEELSA (Middle East Engineering Limited Saudi Arabia) service center.

The Power Technology Center will provide service for B, E and F gas turbines, steam turbines and generators. It also will have coating facilities and a crane with a weight-capacity of 100 tons. The facility is expected to be operational in 2010.
