PSE to expand wind facility by 50 MW

18 April 2008 -- Puget Sound Energy (PSE) said it plans to expand generating capacity at its Wild Horse wind facility in central Washington State by around 20 percent.

PSE proposed adding around 25 wind turbines to its Wild Horse operations, which currently has 127 turbines. At maximum output, the facility currently generates up to 229 MW. The expansion would boost Wild Horse generating capacity by 40 to 50 MW. The proposed expansion remains within the maximum number of turbines (158) and power output (312 MW) authorized by Wild Horse's original development permits.

Construction is expected to begin in 2009 pending necessary approvals, with the new capacity producing electricity by 2010.
