7 April 2008 -- Babcock Power Environmental Inc. (BPE) received a contract said to be worth approximately $100 million to supply the wet flue gas desulfurization systems (WFGD) for two South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G) coal-fired stations.
BPE, a unit of Babcock Power Inc., has agreed to supply two WFGDs complete with absorber island, limestone preparation and gypsum dewatering systems with complete flue duct and structural steel components to integrate the WFGD system into the existing power plants.
The two WFGDs will be installed at SCE&G's Wateree Station and Williams Station, both in South Carolina. Williams Station produces 640 MW while Wateree Station, powered by two Riley supercritical pulverized coal boilers, generates 700 MW.
The contract is scheduled for completion in 2009.
