CEZ to build gas power plants

5 March 2008 - The Czech energy group CEZ plans to invest Kc 18bn ($1.05 bn) in the construction of two gas power plants with an output of 880 MW in Pocerady, in northern Bohemia, in 2008, according to the Prague Daily Monitor.

The the company will build a gas power unit in Uzina, near Usti and Labem, in northern Bohemia, and is considering building a nuclear power plant in Temelin, in south Bohemia, in the future.

The company has announced that it has revised its plans to build a new coal fired power plant in Pocerady due to the government's coal mining limits and the EU decision on the new system of CO2 emission allowances.
