22 February 2008 -- Tenaska, Inc. is developing a site for construction of a 600 MW coal-fueled generating plant designed to capture CO₂. The company has already filed an air permit application with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The final decision to proceed with the more than $3 billion project will be made in 2009. Construction is slated to begin at that time and is scheduled to be completed in 2014. If built, the plant will be the first new commercial coal-fueled power plant, other than small research projects, to capture and provide for storage of CO₂.
