British power broker to expand in Central Europe

29 November 2007 - UK power broker Tullett Prebon plans to extend its market presence in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, trading internal and cross border power, reports Platts.

The market expansion is planned for the "coming months" after a successful launch in the Czech Republic in July of this year, Central Europe's most liquid power market.

The company "is now developing its coverage of the Central European power markets alongside the group's expanding customer base in the region," the London-based brokers said and added: "Since the initial launch, the desk has extended its offering into the surrounding countries, most notably that of the Slovak Republic [and] the desk recently completed its first 'Cal 08 SEPS' trade, a yearly Slovakian electricity product."

The broker also said that Central Europe "now forms an important part of Tullett Prebon's established European Power offering."
