Nova Scotia Power invests in new wind power

Nova Scotia Power has entered negotiations with independent power producers for 240 MW of wind energy to be generated at eight sites throughout the province. This addition of renewable energy marks the largest investment in new power generation in Nova Scotia since 1992.

The installation represents an investment of more than $500 million for turbines and associated construction. The contracts for the energy produced will be worth approximately C$1.5 billion.

Power purchase agreements will be signed by the end of 2007, and installation the new turbines will be installed by the end of 2009.
