Ground breaking ceremony held for Dry Fork Station's newest power plant

2 November 2007 -- More than 300 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony at Dry Fork Station in Gillette, Wyo. The ceremony for the $1.3-billion plant was held about six miles north of Gillette, Wyo. The last groundbreaking ceremony was held in July 1978 for the Cooperative's Antelope Valley Station near Beulah, N.D. Plant construction will be completed in 2011.

The Dry Fork Station is said to be designed to control emissions of SO2, ash, mercury and oxides of nitrogen.

Since 1961, Basin Electric's generating resources have grown to include natural gas-fueled generating facilities along with158 MW of generating capacity produced from renewable sources.
