B&W to supply equipment to Prairie State coal plant

2 November 2007 -- McDermott International, Inc. subsidiary, The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W), will supply its high-efficiency supercritical steam generators and environmental equipment to the Prairie State Energy Campus. The contract's total value is approximately $400 million.

B&W will supply two identical 800 MW spiral wound universal pressure steam generators, selective catalytic reduction systems and burners for the removal of nitrogen oxides emissions and other auxiliary equipment.

Pressure part fabrication is expected to be complete in the spring of 2008 and ancillary equipment delivered in the second quarter of 2009. The units are expected to go online by 2012.
