Bechtel Foundation supports Next Generation Scholarship Fund

31 October 2007 -- The Bechtel Group Foundation has pledged $5,000 to help support the Next Generation Scholarship Fund, which provides academic scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue an engineering course of study in college leading to a career in the power generation industry.

The scholarship fund is beginning its second year and Bechtel has been a supporter since its inception. In its first year, the scholarship awarded four academic scholarships to high school seniors who began their college studies this fall.

In addition to the Bechtel Group Foundation, other current-year contributors to the fund include the American Boiler Manufacturers Association and Pratt & Whitney Power Systems.

The Next Generation Scholarship Fund is administered by JETS, the Junior Engineering Technical Society, a 501 (c) (3) organization, which means all donations are tax-deductible. Power Engineering magazine offers promotional support for the scholarship.

Names of the first scholarship winners will be announced at the gala Projects of the Year Awards banquet on December 10 in New Orleans, preceding POWER-GEN International.
