Basin Electric to build combined cycle unit

24 October 2007 -- Basin Electric Power Cooperative plans to build a 300 MW combined-cycle power plant in South Dakota. Capacity from the proposed Deer Creek Station will serve as an intermediate power supply. It will use natural gas from Basin Electric's Dakota Gasification Co. via the Northern Border Pipeline. Deer Creek Station is scheduled to be operational in 2012.
