18 October 2007 -- American Electric Power and SemGreen L.P. signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the delivery and use of CO₂ captured by a planned commercial-scale carbon capture system on AEP subsidiary Public Service Company of Oklahoma's Northeastern coal-fired power plant.

AEP and SemGreen agreed that CO₂ captured at the Northeastern plant will be transported to SemGreen and used SemGreen for enhanced oil recovery.

AEP plans for the commercial-scale system to be operational at Northeastern early next decade. The system is expected to capture about 1.5 million metric tons of CO₂ a year, which will be used for enhanced oil recovery.
